Swedish Massage
Swedish massage therapy reduces chronic holding patterns in the body by manipulating the muscles to release tension. The treatment is done on a massage table with the use of oils or lotions to soothe the nervous system. I have over 10 years’ experience giving full body sports/ deep tissue massages so you know you will be in good hands. Aromatherapy and 60 and 90 minute sessions available.
Sports Massage
Sports massage consists of firm fast strokes to warm the muscles for movement. My sports massage uses acupressure and manipulations of the joints to pinpoint where there may be a problem. Keeping the joints lubricated and the muscles supple is the key to longevity in any sport. I also incorporate many stretches for the hips and lower spine to increase overall range of motion which is preventative of injury. You do not have to be a professional athlete to enjoy a sports massage, maybe you are a weekend warrior, weight lifter, yogi, or just simply walk from time to time. 60 and 90 minute sessions available.
Thai Bodywork
The regional style of traditional Thai massage called Nuad Boran, which is an ancient energy based healing system that combines acupressure, reflexology, and supported restorative yoga postures to open stagnant energy from the corners (joints) of the body. Rather than rubbing the muscles, the body is stretched and rocked and in this process the joints are opened, muscles are stretched, internal organs are toned and energy is balanced. The overall effect is one of deep relaxation, rejuvenation, and physical and mental well-being.
Thai yoga enhances physical performance by providing healthy moves and stretches to balance opposing muscle groups. It encourages the release of synovial fluid to lubricate joints and keep the tendons and muscles supple. This is very important for athletes because many sports intensify physical imbalance due to repetitive use. The gentle stretches of Nuad Boran have an unrivaled ability to speed healing and restore pain free functioning. Thai massage lasts a minimum of 90 minutes-2 hours.
Neuromuscular therapy
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is a modern, logical system of massage therapy. It is based on understanding how the neuromuscular system functions. Neuromuscular principles help me understand what’s causing your pain: trigger points, posture, etc, and how to treat it. The nervous system controls everything in the body, including muscle tension and pain. Results-based rather than focusing on general relaxation.
This approach to massage is very detailed massage of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissue. Precise massage therapy releases problem areas that are missed by general massage. It often uses the thumbs or fingertips to explore tissues in detail. Elbows or forearms are also used, when necessary. Tense muscles often form bands of muscle fibers even tighter than the rest. These are areas of hyper tonicity and ischemia. Searching thoroughly, I can feel bands of tight muscle fibers; the areas that are in the most trouble. These are found and treated until they release. It has grown to include treatment of the craniosacral system, joints, connective tissues and internal organs. Problems in any body system can create high-intensity nerve impulses that stimulate muscles to contract, leading to pain.
In essence, this massage works to release muscles using specific neurological laws that are always constant. Follow the pain to its corresponding nerve; work to the origin of a muscle, muscle insertion and everything in-between. This approach does not include the full body, thorough but limited to the areas involved. This focus is incredibly relaxing and satisfying, as most people have never experienced such thorough treatment and attention to the areas of concern.
Neuromuscular therapy is not just offered to anyone, you must book a series of appointments to correct the issues of concern.
